A listing of 105 Disabled American Veterans has been provided to our local DAV Chapter 65, which serves the St. James area. These veterans have a disability of some unknown level, which was incurred during active military service and were honorably discharged.
Among these veterans there are 41 who are identified as residents of the Missouri Veterans Home. Within this number there are 26 who are deceased and three who are no longer listed as residents. Also, there are 34 who have a St. James zip code but are not listed in the telephone directory and probably have cell phones. Additionally, there are 30 who are listed in the directory with local telephone numbers. All are identified with an address (some just PO box numbers) but not all are valid addresses.
The Meramec Valley DAV Chapter 65 is located in Cuba and meets (currently) on the fourth Saturday of the month at 1 p.m. in the Cuba American Legion hall located at the corner of Monroe and Bond.
We are trying to identify to all disabled veterans that we would like serve you in any way possible whether it is with a contact telephone number or service officer.
For your convenience the National DAV mobile van will be in St. James from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 in the parking lot serving the VA Outpatient Clinic at the MVH. Don't fail to take advantage of this opportunity. The service officer with this van is also a disabled veteran and is very well trained to serve your needs whether for general information, filing a claim or providing other related services.
