Manslaughter trial scheduled for June

The St. James man charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter after Cassie L. Brady (Black), of St. James, died in a car accident on Route B in June, 2011, is scheduled to face a jury of his peers the same week as the one-year anniversary of Brady’s death.

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, recently announced the traffic crash and DWI enforcement totals for both the Christmas and New Year’s counting period for the six-county Troop I area.

Child porn charges for Rolla man

The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that William P. Haynes, Jr., was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his possession of child pornography.

More meth charges

The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Douglas Gehlert was sentenced to 71 months in prison involving his possession of anhydrous ammonia.  The Belle, Mo., police chief was sent to the hospital after inhaling the vapors.

While the roadway fatality rate is consistently declining statewide, that number is increasing in the Meramec Region.

No driving tests Monday

The Missouri State Highway Patrol would like to remind the public that
driver examination stations throughout the state will be closed in
observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011.

Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011.

13-year-old boy dies in accident

Cpl. Shawn Altermatt of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) is investigating the car crash of Austin J. Hoener, 13, of St. James. Hoener was pronounced dead Saturday at approximately 11:05 p.m. by Phelps County Coroner Larry Swinfard after being transported to Phelps County Regional Medical Center.
