A 59-year-old St. James man was arrested Aug. 17 on charges statutory sodomy in connection with allegations of a crime perpetrated against a 12-year-old girl.
John Holton Boldrey, a Phelps County resident who lives in the rural St. James area, was booked into the Phelps County Jail, pending a $750,000 surety bond. As of Aug. 18, Boldrey was still incarcerated.
Arrested at his home by deputies with the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, the initial report by investigators indicates that Boldrey knew the alleged victim.
A spokesperson with the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department said the investigation of the alleged crime occurred after the Childrens’ Services Division received a tip on its hotline.
Subsequently, the child was interviewed by staff at Kids’ Harbor Too, a child advocacy center in St. Robert.
The alleged activity occurred at Boldrey’s home, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
