Courtway enters one felony count

The United States Attorney’s Office announced that Dale Courtway, 42, St. James, has entered a guilty plea to one felony count of production of child pornography.

According to court documents, between January 2008 and November 2009, Courtway took pictures of himself engaged in sexually explicit conduct with a minor under the age of eighteen.

He appeared Aug. 18 before United States District Judge Jean C. Hamilton, who set sentencing for Nov. 19, 2010.   This charge carries a penalty range of 15 to 30 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.

This case was investigated by St. James Police Department, South Central Missouri Computer Crime Task Force, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Assistant United States Attorney Rob Livergood is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
