A 23-year-old Rolla man was arrested Feb. 12 and charged with the same-day, early-morning robbery of a St. James gas station.
Robert A. Robbins, of 1101 LaGuille Court, was incarcerated in the Phelps County Jail on a charge of first-degree robbery, pending a $50,000 bond.
Robbins was arrested shortly after the St. James Mobil on the Run reported an armed robbery was in progress.
A St. James police officer was dispatched to the gas station and convenience store at 3:11 a.m.
Feb. 12. While en route to the scene, the officer was advised the suspect fled the premises on foot and headed in the direction of St. James Middle School.
While traveling north on North Louise Street, the officer met a vehicle traveling south at a high rate of speed. A subsequent investigatory traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Robbins.
According to the police report, a masked suspect allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk at the gas station.
Court records indicated Robbins had a case review scheduled at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Phelps County Courthouse.
