During that same period, Troop I officers issued 151 citations for speeding and 39 to individuals who were not wearing a seat belt. Two motorists were also cited for failing to have their child properly restrained in a child restraint system. In addition to these totals, Troop I officers assisted 87 motorists.
Captain Becker, stated, “I hope that you and your family were able to enjoy the festivities of the 4th of July without being involved in a traffic crash. Unfortunately, many Missourians spent the holiday either caring for an injured family member or dealing with the loss of property because of a traffic crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is committed to making our highways as safe as possible. We realize this goal can only be achieved if all motorists take the job of driving seriously and always obey the rules of the road.”
