Grape Jam is set this weekend

The St. James Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join in activities for the second Grape Jam bluegrass and craft festival.

The festival is scheduled Friday and Saturday. Events begin at 6 p.m. Friday.

On Friday vendors, including a variety of food and crafts, will be located on East Washington Street. The street will be blocked beginning at 4 p.m. There will also be inflatable games provided by Hi Striker.

A classic car cruise-in is slated for 6 to 9 p.m. on West Washington Street on Friday as well. The queen candidates for the Grape & Fall Festival will be parking cars for the cruise in on Friday and Saturday.

Bluegrass groups will be performing throughout the area and there is no admission charge.

On Saturday, events begin at 1 p.m. with bluegrass musicians performing around the downtown area. The street market will once again be open on East Washington.

A cruise-in is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. on West Washington. After the Grape Jam cruise-in, drivers are also invited to visit the St. James Tourist Information Center for a cruise-in beginning at 6 p.m.

Also on Saturday a free concert will occur from 7 to 10 p.m. on the porch of the St. James Elevator.

The master of ceremonies will be Wayne Bledsoe from KMST Radio. The stage will be open from 6 to 7 p.m. then The Sterlings of Union, Mo., will perform at 7 p.m. Next Ozark Express of Licking, Mo., will perform at 7:45 p.m. followed by the Rosa String Works Band of Newburg, Mo., at 8:30 p.m. The concert will conclude with Dixie Union of Rolla, Mo., at 9:15 p.m.

If vendors would like to participate in the street market there is a $10 charge per vendor space for the two days. Vendors are also allowed to leave tents and equipment overnight if needed.
