City of Light and Life Ministries is holding its Harvest Fest with a concert featuring Barbara Fairchild on Oct. 9.

The festival will be at the ministry City of Light and Life in St. James.  We will have a combination of Harvest Fest and a concert.  The Harvest Fest will begin at 2 p.m. with activities such as a cruise-in, hay rides, clowns, face painting, games and a bonfire.

Then somewhere between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. our City of Light and Life has a show on the stage named Light Force.  That's where the young men of the church break bricks, lift telephone poles, tear license plates, tear phone books, and break open soda cans with soda in them.

Then at 7 p.m. there will be free concert with Barbara Fairchild and at the end we will shoot some great fireworks.  It will be a fun-packed afternoon and evening with activities going on all the time.

Barbara has been entertaining since she was 5 years old.  Her career in country music accelerated in 1973.  She was nominated for a Grammy when her song 'The Teddy Bear Song' reached number one on the charts.  Some of her other hits include 'Baby Doll' and 'Kid Stuff.’

Barbara has been recognized in the southern gospel music field with songs such as 'Could You Walk a Mile,’  'Apples of Gold,’ and 'Uncommon Love.'
In January of 2006 she released her latest hymns album, 'He Kept on Loving Me.'

She has been an important member of the Branson community since 1992.  She is presently producing and performing her own show where she performed for 11 years.  She also opened her own diner in the fall of 2008.
Barbara also conducts a Sunday worship service at the Starlite Theatre in Branson.  She and Roy, her husband, also do special tributes to veterans in Branson and other places that they perform.

Together Barbara and Roy are a dynamic couple who have a powerful impact on the people they meet.  They have a message to share that inspires and encourages others everywhere they go.

City of Light and Life Ministries is located on North Outer Road (Old Highway 66) between exits 189 and 195 on I-44 in St. James.
