Allen May was sentenced to 46 months in prison on federal charges of possession of child pornography, United States Attorney Richard G. Callahan and Rolla Police Chief Mark A. Kearse announced.
Allen C. May, 24, Rolla, Mo., plead guilty on Sept. 8, 2009, to three felony counts of possession of child pornography. He appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Donald J. Stohr.
In a separate unrelated case, his father, James H. May, 51, Rolla, Mo., plead guilty on Sept. 3, 2009, to five felony counts of possession of child pornography and was sentenced in November to 41 months in prison, followed by a life time of supervised release.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
Callahan commended the work on the case by the Rolla Police Department, Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Regional Computer Crimes Education and Enforcement Group and Assistant United States Attorney Rob Livergood, who handled the cases for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
