How do I prepare the way for the LORD in my life?
Isaiah 40:3 A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.
I used to constantly live in defeat, which is not the will of God for his children, no matter how you slice the pie. This is no life at all, in fact, you’re like a walking dead person, and you end up turning more people away from Jesus than leading them to him. But there’s no excuse to continue in this lifestyle, because God is an ever-constant and ever-consistent God. There’s nothing wrong or defective about him, and his power to deliver, heal, and restore better than before. His promises are always true, but we have to appropriate (Make our own) the blessing. So how do we do that? We prepare the way for the LORD in our life.
How can I prepare the way for God in my life if I’m seeking first my kingdom? I can’t, it’s impossible. How can I prepare the way for God in my life if I’m immersing my brain in whatever comes over the air-waves, satellite, or broadband connection? It can’t be done. How can I prepare the way for the LORD if my attitude is not formed and founded by the Word of God…I can’t. The believer’s responsibility is to prepare the way for God’s presence in their life. So many times we do the opposite, by preparing the way for the world, the flesh, and the Devil, and wonder why we don’t experience the blessings of God.
You naturally prepare the way for the master you serve. This can be the flesh, the world, and/or the Devil without even knowing it. Take any struggle, and ask the question: “How am I preparing the way for the LORD in this?” Then you will hear the flesh say, “Yes, I would prepare the way for the LORD but, but, but, (fill in with an excuse or two or three)…” Any person living in defeat will have this syndrome.
When I accepted Christ, I accepted him to save my soul, but for many years I did not take hold of the other blessings that come with salvation by faith. The Bible says (1 Thess. 5:23-24), “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.” That means that God not only saved my soul, when he saved me, he saved my spirit, soul, and body. That means God has everything it takes for me to live in victory of spirit, soul, and body. What is my responsibility according to the Bible? To prepare the way for God to do his work in my life.
