The league champion St. James High School boys’ basketball team had two players named to the All-Four Rivers Conference First Team and another selected honorable mention.
The St. James High School girls’ basketball team was able to survive a 12-point halftime deficit and rally past West Plains in Missouri Class 4 Sectional action earlier in the week.
The St. James girls' basketball team, as well as the St. James Cheerleaders, enjoyed several pep rallies and a dinner Friday before heading to Quarterfinals against Webb City in Springfield, Mo.
Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino of the Monster World Rally Team have claimed their fifth consecutive 100 Acre Wood Rally win. Block drove the Open Class Ford Fiesta to victory despite having a tough first day and starting the second leg over a minute behind rally leader, Travis Pastrana.
The first fish at Maramec Spring Park during the 2010 Missouri trout season was turned in by one of the youngest anglers who was lining the stream.

The St. James High School girls’ basketball team will take on an opponent considered one of the nation’s best Saturday, when the Lady Tigers meet Webb City for a second straight year in Missouri Class 4 Quarterfinal action.
St. James faces Webb City at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hammons Student Center on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield.

Senior guard Jordan Bowen hit the biggest shot of her life on Wednesday, draining a 18-footer off the right baseline to give the St. James High School girls’ basketball team a 41-40 victory over West Plains in Missouri Class 4 Sectional action at Lebanon High School.
St. James, 25-3 and ranked No. 3 in this week’s Missouri Class 4 state poll, now braces for a rematch with the state’s top-ranked team, Webb City, in quarterfinal action at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hammons Student Center on the campus of Missouri State in Springfield.
Webb City (27-1) advanced to the quarterfinals by blasting Republic 60-34 in sectional action on Wednesday.
It was Webb City that knocked St. James out of the state playoffs in last year’s quarterfinals at the Hammons Student Center.
The head coaches of this one are going to treat every possession like they’re precious.
Because defense figures to be the first order of business when the St. James High School girls’ basketball team takes on the West Plains Lady Zizzers tonight.
The St. James Cheerleaders have pride in not only their school, but in themselves.

There was not always an abundance of offense. But there was never a lack of effort for the St. James High School boys’ basketball team during the 2009-10 campaign.
In basketball, if you don’t score you don’t win.
And the Owensville Dutchgirls were most definitely not going to win in the second half Friday night.
Outmanned by a swarming defense by the top-seeded St. James High School girls’ basketball team, third-seeded Owensville tallied just two points after intermission as the Lady Tigers rolled to a 48-19 victory Friday in the championship game of the Missouri Class 4 District 9 Tournament at Eldon High School.
St. James, 24-3 and ranked No. 4 in the Missouri Class 4 state poll, advances to Class 4 Sectional action at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lebanon High School. The Lady Tigers will play District 10 champion West Plains in the sectionals on Wednesday. West Plains improved to 23-5 by beating Marshfield 39-29 in the District 10 title game Friday.
The St. James High School girls’ basketball team won a battle of state-ranked teams on Feb. 18, beating Pacific 56-36 in Four Rivers Conference action.
The James Foundation welcomes the public to Maramec Spring Park on March 1 for the opening of trout fishing season.
