The St. James High School freshman girls’ basketball team improved its unbeaten record to 5-0 on Jan. 15 by beating New Haven 37-19 in St. James.

The game had been scheduled for Jan. 7 but was backed up due to the weather.

St. James took a 11-4 lead after the first period and was in control the rest of the way. New Haven was shut out over the second quarter and trailed at halftime 21-4. It was 29-8 heading into the fourth quarter.

M.J. Buschmann erupted for 19 points to power the Lady Tigers.

St. James’ final game of the second is scheduled in Washington Jan. 30 against St. Francis Borgia, starting at 5 p.m.

The individual scoring:
St. James (37): Charley Lepper 2, Taylour Rinehart 5, Madi Kean 6, Jenni Webster 3, M.J. Buschmann 19, Kirsten Messer 2.
New Haven (19): Mariah Nixon 2, Taylor Goad 10, Rachel Horstmann 5, Magan Bauer 2.

Monday, Jan. 11
St. James 33, Pacific 15

The Lady Tiger freshmen finished strong and whipped Pacific 33-15 on Monday, Jan. 11. St. James led 11-7 after the first period and went into halftime up 15-11. Pacific did not score in the third period and the Lady Tigers outscored them 14-4 in the final quarter.

Madi Kean had nine points for the Lady Tigers while Taylour Rinehart added seven points, Shelby Ridenhour and Kaylee Yowell five each, Jenni Webster four and M.J. Buschmann three.

The individual scoring:
St. James (33): Taylour Rinehart 7, Madi Kean 9, Shelby Ridenhour 5, Jenni Webster 4, Kaylee Yowell 5, M.J. Buschmann 3.
Pacific (15): Mueller 2, Webb 4, Spuhl 2, Weaver 7.
