The head coaches of this one are going to treat every possession like they’re precious.

Because defense figures to be the first order of business when the St. James High School girls’ basketball team takes on the West Plains Lady Zizzers tonight.

For the second consecutive year the Lady Tigers make a trip to Lebanon High School for Missouri Class 4 Sectional action. This year the opponent is West Plains.

St. James (24-3) and West Plains (23-5) will tangle at 6 p.m. tonight in sectional play. In the boys’ sectional game at Lebanon, Jefferson City Helias (18-6) takes on Bolivar (17-6) at 7:45 p.m.

The sectional survivors from Lebanon will advance to Missouri Class 4 Quarterfinal action Saturday on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield.

In Saturday’s quarterfinals the St. James-West Plains girls’ winner will play the winner of Republic (10-10) vs. Webb City (26-1) at 1 p.m. while the Helias-Bolivar boys’ winner takes on either Republic (12-6) or Harrisonville (14-5) at 2:45 p.m.
