The 10th annual Missouri Veterans Home – St. James Assistance League Golf Tournament is scheduled Aug. 9 at the St. James Golf Club.
The Missouri Veterans Home – St. James has the honor of being the oldest of seven veteran’s homes in the State of Missouri. The home was first established in 1896 by the Women’s Relief Corps. Its original purpose was to provide care to aging Missourians who had fought for the Union in the Civil War.
The home currently serves 150 veterans who depend on service to meet their medical and psychosocial needs. The home's mission is to honor and serve the veterans whose dedication and sacrifices have preserved our nation and its freedoms. The Missouri Veterans Home – St. James Assistance League Golf Tournament is in its 10th year thanks to the wonderful people and communities who support its greatest cause, our American Heroes.
Assistance League board members include: Joe Alexander, Richard Pirtle, Stan Spadoni, Louis Gorman, Dennis Wilson, Wilbert Falke, Dave Lexa, Bob May and Lowell Wynn.
The 2010 Purple Heart sponsor for the tournament is Mitchell D. Esquibel, D.D.S.
The 2010 Eagle sponsors include: Walmart Distribution Center 6069, Phelps County Bank, Phelps County Regional Medical Center & Phelps Regional, Homecare – Hospice, McKesson Medical and Mo-Sci Corporation.

In accordance with IRS regulations, please be advised that the fair market of goods and services received for tournament participation is $75 per player.

Thanks to those who supported the event last year, as we raised more than $18,000 for the veterans of our home. Funds raised go toward improving the quality of life for the veterans we serve.
The following are sponsor rates:
• The Purple Heart for $2,000. This sponsorship includes: One threesome for tournament, banner signage at course entrance, recognition at the awards ceremony and recognition on all printed material.
• The Eagle for $1,000. This sponsorship includes: One threesome for tournament, special signage at putting green and recognition in event program.
The Stars & Stripes for $500. This sponsorship includes a special on-course signage and recognition in the event program.
• The Liberty Bell for $250. This sponsorship includes special signage in club house and recognition in the event program.
• The Salute to Veterans for $100. This sponsorship includes on-course signage.
• Honorable mention is for any amount under $100. They will receive recognition in the event program.
