Junior right-hander Zack Mesey of the Sullivan High School baseball team tossed a no-hitter at the St. James Tigers on Monday, April 14.
Mesey was nearly perfect on Monday, giving up no hits and no walks while fanning 16 batters in a six-inning 10-0 Four Rivers Conference win over St. James.
An error resulted in the lone baserunner on the night for St. James, now 0-9 overall.
Sullivan, ranked No. 2 in the current Missouri Class 3 state poll, got three runs in the bottom of the first inning, three in the second, one in the fourth and three more in the sixth to end the game on the run rule.
The Sullivan Eagles had 13 hits.
Ryan Parker was the starting and losing pitcher for St. James.
Sullivan rallied for a 6-5 win in the junior varsity game.
St. James had been scheduled to compete in the Salem Tournament on April 11-12 but that tourney was rained out.
The Tigers are scheduled to host St. Clair on Wednesday, April 16 and Owensville on April 17 in a pair of conference games at Nelson Hart Park.
