The normally high-scoring St. James High School boys’ basketball team had its coldest-shooting night of the season on Friday, as the Tigers were whipped by Linn 35-22.
St. James’ Friday point total was 40 points below the team’s season scoring average.
The Tigers scored just 10 points in the first half, trailing 12-6 after the first period and 18-10 at halftime. St. James cut its deficit to 20-16 going into the fourth quarter.
However, St. James managed just six points in the final period.
St. James fell to 7-5.
St. James won the junior varsity game 35-33. Caleb Martensen tallied 12 points for the Tiger jayvee team.
Second-seeded St. James was slated to play seventh-seeded Salem Jan. 19 in the first round of the St. James Tournament.
