Blair Oaks, Rolla win in openers

St. James, Mo. -

The 65th annual boys’ high school basketball St. James Tournament began Monday night with top-seeded Blair Oaks and fifth-seeded Rolla recording first-round victories.

Blair Oaks blasted eighth-seeded E.H. Lyle Charter Academy 71-28 while Rolla clipped fourth-seeded Fatima 67-64.

In first-round games yesterday third-seeded Sullivan was to play sixth-seeded Newburg while second-seeded St. James was to face seventh-seeded Salem. Scores from Tuesday’s games were not available due to deadlines.

In consolation games on Thursday the St. James-Salem loser plays the Sullivan-Newburg loser at 6 p.m. while E.H. Lyle meets Fatima at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday the seventh-place game begins at 5 p.m. followed by the semifinal games, pitting the St. James-Salem winner vs. the Sullivan-Newburg winner at 6:30 p.m. and Rolla vs. Blair Oaks at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday the fifth-place game is slated for 5 p.m., the third-place game for 6:30 p.m. and the championship game for 8 p.m.
