The Lady Outlaws, a women’s slow-pitch softball team from St. James/Rolla, failed to place in the 2010 Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Women’s Missouri Series Tournament, held Saturday at Ber Juan Park.
The Springfield Crush was the winner of the tournament.
The Crush came back to beat the Springfield Thunder in the “if” game of the seven-team, double-elimination tournament.
Springfield Crush defeated STL Hummerz 14-4 in the first round, topped Lugnuts 8-4 in the second round and, in the finals of the winners bracket, clipped Thunder 5-4.
In the losers bracket final Thunder beat the Columbia Post Office 6-2 to advance to the championship round.
In their rematch Thunder topped Crush 14-8, giving both teams a loss and setting up a final game to determine the champion. In that contest Crush easily won 17-2.
Post Office placed third while B&D Design of Fort Leonard Wood finished fourth.
There were two teams from the Rolla area in the field -- the Lady Outlaws and B&D Design from Fort Leonard Wood.
The Lady Outlaws lost to Post Office 18-5 in the first round and was beaten by B&D Design 8-5 in the opening losers bracket round.
B&D Design lost to Lugnuts 7-2 in the first round and in the losers bracket beat the Lady Outlaws, topped STL Hummerz 4-3 and lost to the Post Office 11-6.
