State champs knock off St. James, 6-2

The St. James High School baseball team was beaten by defending Class 1 state champion New Haven 6-2 in Four Rivers Conference action on Wednesday, April 9.

New Haven senior pitcher Blaine Abbott limited St. James to just three hits while fanning 14. Tigers who got hits were Justin Brown, Aaron Carson and Matt Offerman. Offerman’s hit plated courtesy runners Tyler Craft and Tyler Karnes in the top of the seventh inning for the Tigers. Craft and Karnes were running for Brown and Carson, who also reached with hits.

Brown was the losing hurler for St. James, now 0-8.
