Lady Tiger soccer improves to 8-2

The St. James High School girls’ soccer team improved its record to 8-2 overall by clipping Dixon 2-1 in non-league action on Monday, April 21.

After a scoreless first half the Lady Tigers got second-half goals from senior Heather Cain, assisted by freshman Amanda White, and from White unassisted.

Senior Eden Welch was in goal for St. James.

The junior varsity game ended in a scoreless tie. Rachel Fetters was in goal for the St. James jayvee
squad.

On Thursday, April 17 at Union, St. James was shut out by the Union Lady Wildcats 3-0. Union held a 1-0 halftime edge. Welch was in goal for St. James, which fell to 1-2 in league play. Union also won the jayvee game 7-0.

On Tuesday, April 15 at the Boys and Girls Town Field St. James clipped Fatima 1-0. The game ended scoreless after regulation and overtime play, forcing penalty kicks. White’s penalty kick proved to be the game-winner for St. James. Welch got the shutout in goal.

St. James also won the junior varsity game 1-0, as sophomore Courtney Hoffstetter had the goal. Fetters was the Lady Tiger jayvee goal-keeper.

St. James was scheduled to host Belle on Tuesday, April 22 and is to play at Mountain View on Thursday, April 24 against Liberty/Birch Tree.
