‘Big, big mess’ with Missouri Senate redistricting

After the smoke cleared and redistricting for the Missouri Senate was finished by a nonpartisan commission of judges appointed in late 2011 by Gov. Jay Nixon, State Sen. Dan Brown, R-Rolla, was supposed to represent Phelps, Laclede, Camden and Pulaski counties.

Smith files more legislation

State Rep. Jason Smith, R-Salem, filed three pieces of legislation this week in Jefferson City. Smith represents parts of St. James and eastern Phelps County in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Absentee ballots for the Feb. 7, 2012, Presidential Primary Election must be available to military and overseas voters by Dec, 24, 2011. For offices closed on Saturday, Dec. 24, ballots must be available by the close of business on Friday, Dec. 23.
 
Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is urging military and overseas voters to request their absentee ballots as soon as possible to ensure they can participate in the upcoming Presidential Primary. Kim Jong Il dead at 69; son expected to take over

North Korea confirmed Monday (late Sunday U.S. time) that Kim Jong Il died Saturday morning. South Korea news agencies reported that Kim died of a heart attack during a trip.
